After retiring he, Nora and family moved into a trailer new "Joe's Store and Filling Station" at Bayou Sorrel. Until a couple years before his death he was still cutting firewood with an ax. Funeral Services for Ernest were held at Wilbert Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Bill Blanchard. He had a half sister Ada Allen married to Leander Curry and 2 half brothers Joseph and Oscar Allen. Also Jima Voris. After Ernest's mother Martha Stockstill died, his father Joseph Allen married Edna Carline sister to Ernest wife Nora who was mother to Ernests step brothers and sisters.
